My heart is lost on how we have come this far. How have we arrived at a place where we are deciding issues based on feelings and rights instead of justice and truth? We are forging ahead with an agenda of liberty and freedom for women, but instead we find ourselves more in bondage to the lies we are buying.
Abortion has been a hot topic most of my adult life. When I first became a Christian, I quickly learned the importance of advocating for these silent victims. 30 years later, abortion has become part of our cultural norm. It is discussed casually in the news or on social media. When voting, it no longer seems to be the dividing line between right and wrong.
I remember 25 years ago, trying to understand how one of my friends could be a Christian and pro-choice. I couldn’t wrap my head around one reading Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.” and justifying that a baby wasn't a life until after he or she is born.
My desire is to be loving toward all people. I want to be a light on a hill for those who are lost and struggling. I don’t want to be offensive, but lines regarding the innocent are being drawn and we are either on one side…or the other.
We can't stay quiet. We can't pretend this isn’t happening.
Already this year, we have taken drastic steps to support, endorse, and advocate late term abortions and infanticide in our nation. I must be honest with you, I can’t read any more articles. I can’t watch any more doctors describe how the baby is “terminated.” I have hidden posts and pictures and discussions because it grieves my heart. I am unable to understand how we have come this far.
“In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
As a nation, we have no king. We no longer seek the Lord for His wisdom and discernment regarding issues and laws. We watch fighting and hatred among politicians, news reporters, and public figures. We see actor’s faking hate crimes, teenage boys being threatened, lying, stealing, plotting, planning…
Hatred surrounds us. Consumes us. Pours over us. How have we come this far?
We are doing right in our own eyes…and we are so wrong. Our nation is making policies and decisions based on their own standard of truth, their own limited understanding of life, and their own belief system. We have forgotten how sinful we are. We have forgotten how easily we can be deceived when we take our eyes off our King and decide what is best based on how we see things.
This is not a victory for women.
This is not a victory for pro-choice.
This is not a victory for the African-American community.
This is not a victory for the white community.
This is not a victory for the Hispanic community.
This is not a victory for the handicapped or disabled community.
This is not a victory for the mental health community.
This is not a victory for the left leaning liberal.
This is a victory for the devil who prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) The enemy of our soul wants our children. He wants us in bondage and chains. He wants us to feel pain and heartache and loss. He rejoices in the victory that we have come this far.
I am a girl passionately in love with Jesus, my husband, and my children. I am forever learning how to live a life completely undone for my God. This blog is about my journey and a few funny stories in between.
